Original Item: One of a kind. FIELD MARSHAL FREDERICK SLEIGH ROBERTS 1832 - 1914, THE 1ST EARL ROBERTS, started his military career by joining the EAST INDIA COMPANY in 1852. He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857, for which he received the Victoria Cross, and after the Sepoy Rebellion joined the British Army. He had a spectacular career during Queen Victoria's reign, fighting in Abyssinia, Afghanistan and all over India, becoming Commander in Chief of all India. He led the British in the Second Boer war in 1899-1901 and was made an EARL afterwards.

One of Great Britain's most popular Victorian Military Generals, his nickname to the rank and file troops was "BOBS". This typed letter is dated August 14th 1913 and is signed in ink by Lord Roberts himself. Nice framed, matted and glazed along with a printed photograph, measuring 12 1/2" X 10 1/2".
